Sex, Marriage and Religion

Sex and sexual desires plays such a powerful role in our lives that it’s no wonder why the major religions attempt to control it and place such stringent rules on what you may and may not do. Putting these rules and regulations on sexuality is another attempt to rope you into their grasps and tell you that you have sinned. It is another whip for them to use to make you jump through their hoops. Since the desire of sex is probably only topped by the desire to continue to live, regulating it is a very powerful instrument and that is why all the main religions have it packed in their arsenals. The top three religions prohibit you from having sex before marriage; they even demand that you are not to partake in masturbation. While most all faiths have different views on the topic, I will cover the top three, Christianity, Islam, and Judaism.

Mother Teresa

"What she didn't understand, she being spiritual and seeing religion as spirit, was that it took religion to save me from the spirit world, from orbiting the earth like Lucifer and the angels, that it took nothing less than touching the thread off the misty interstates and eating Christ himself to make me mortal man again and let me inhabit my own flesh and love her in the morning.”

Leonard Nimoy

"I never asked you to earn me. I want only that you should need me. Your path is not one of merit. Bring the recurring desires of your mind to me, every time they emerge. Bring me your confusion, your fear, your craving, your anxiety, your inability to love the world, your hesitation to serve, your jealousy, all the deficiencies that defy your spiritual disciplines.”
Sri Sathya Sai Baba

"There is only one way, really, to get into a state of living, and that's live! There is no substitute for an allout, overtheramparts, howling charge against life. That's living. Living does not consist of sitting in a temple in the shadows and getting rheumatism from the cold stones. Living is hot, it's fast, it's often brutal! It has a terrific gamut of emotional reactions. If you are really willing to live, you first have to be willing to do anything that consists of living. Weird. But it's one of those awfully true things that you wonder why one has to say it. And yet it has to be said."
L. Ron Hubbard

“The best way to know any future is to cause one. And that’s why, you see, when you start consulting the oracle at Delphi, you’ve taken a step downhill. You have assigned cause for the future elsewhere...So one predicts the future as much as one is cause. The future isn’t a pattern laid out to abuse and bully you. The future is a beautiful playground that nobody happen to be combining. You talk about virgin territory – the most virgin territory there is, is the future. You can do anything you want with it.”
L. Ron Hubbard

Osama Bin Laden is Finally Dead!

Osama Bin Laden is finally dead! And Americans are celebrating!!

A religiously motivated leader of some of the worst religious inspired heinous acts of this century is now finally dead. US Military shot him in the head in a raid that lasted 40 minutes! No military casualties!

Watch the video here:
And read the news article here:

Escaping Death

On a show about disaster, there was a story about a lady who gave her space on a bus to someone else, it crashed and many people died. She thanks god that she had escaped death; and this made me think. Everybody reading this has escaped death for every second of their lives, by definition. The fact that some else died when it could have been you isn’t a necessity for you to have escaped death. Not to mention, what bad luck for the person who died instead. Every time I drive, I escape death, an accident that I narrowly avoid, doesn't have to happen in order for me to make that claim.

The Main Reason I Don't Like Religion

"My personal #1 reason that I don't like religion is because I like knowledge, I crave information like a crack attic craves crack! And Religion suppresses knowledge; not just the knowledge unfortunately, but it suppresses the entire drive to understand. With ideas like God created it and we can never comprehend how so don't try, religion wipes out the one thing that makes mankind great, our mind!" -Garrett Fogerlie

Realy Good Quote From Christopher Hitchens

I came across this while researching a paper I am writing that will be posted at soon.
"The only position that leaves me with no cognitive dissonance is atheism. It is not a creed. Death is certain, replacing both the siren-song of Paradise and the dread of Hell. Life on this earth, with all its mystery and beauty and pain, is then to be lived far more intensely: we stumble and get up, we are sad, confident, insecure, feel loneliness and joy and love. There is nothing more; but I want nothing more."

Thomas Sutcliffe Quote

"Given their virtually seamless record of error when it comes to pontificating about scientific discoveries, you'd think Roman Catholic bishops might have acquired a little humility by now."

Professor Bernard Lewis Quote

"The degree of thought control, of limitations on freedom of speech and expression is without parallel in the Western world since the eighteenth century and in some cases longer than that... It seems to me it's a very dangerous situation, because it makes any kind of scholarly discussion of Islam, to say the least, dangerous."
